The World’s Fastest Salmonella Test Kit Improves Food Safety and Contributes to CO2 reduction

Salmonella is a major cause of food poisoning worldwide. In fact, the number of foodborne diseases caused by pathogen bacteria is 15 cases per 100,000 people. Though most cases of salmonella are not deadly, severe illnesses may occur in persons infected.

If salmonella is found in any kind of food, the producer is obliged to recall often large quantities of food. It’s safety first – always. But this results in food waste as well as loss of money. Companies can test the food for strains of salmonella, but current testing is slow and costly and not always that precise or safe.

Faster and safer monitoring

To better monitor potential salmonella risks in food products, DNA Diagnostic A/S has developed the fastest kit for detection of Salmonella. Salmonella Velox qPCR test kit can test samples of meat, pork, poultry, processed meat and seafood etc. several hours or days faster than typical testing kits. In fact, the testing duration from sample to result is only 5.5 hours, simply the world’s fastest qPCR test on the market, where other testing methods take up to 96 hours. Applying the kit is also simpler than others, making for a faster and easier salmonella test.

Optimising recalls and saving CO2

The speed of Salmonella Velox qPCR test kit provides food producers with quick results and if positive, it enables them to accelerate a root case investigation, minimize any impact or add a proactive tool to their daily routines. Outbreaks are thus avoided due to confirmative results within a few hours and recalls can be started faster.

Faster testing frees up cold store capacity, opportunity to increase production capacity and thereby increase the total efficiency for the company – as well as more climate friendly. One could actually save up to 70% in CO2 due to reduced holding time at the cold store or freezer. This is because the food samples for the test kit occupies less freezer-time as it is being tested several times faster than traditional testing methods. Hence, saving energy as well as money.
