UN Food Systems Summit 2021

The first-ever UN Food Systems Summit will take place on Thursday, 23 September 2021 as a virtual event during the UN General Assembly High-level Week.

The UN Food Systems Summit will serve as a historic opportunity to empower all people to leverage the power of food systems to drive the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and get us back on track to achieve all 17 Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

Over the past year and a half, hundreds of thousands of people from around the world and across all constituencies have engaged with the Food Systems Summit to accelerate action to transform food systems to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. As a people’s summit, everyone must take action and work together to transform the way the world produces, consumes, and thinks about food to make a change.

About the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit

The UN Food Systems Summit was announced by the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, on World Food Day last October as a part of the Decade of Action for delivery on the SDGs by 2030. The aim of the Summit is to deliver progress on all 17 of the SDGs through a food systems approach, leveraging the interconnectedness of food systems to global challenges such as hunger, climate change, poverty and inequality.
