Stream the new Global Food Talk Podcast on food security

You can now listen to the Global Food Talk podcast, launched on 16 October 2026 to mark the United Nations World Food Day. This episode explores the central question: How do we turn awareness of global challenges into scalable solutions for food security?

Around 645 million people faced hunger in 2025, while 2.69 billion people, nearly one in three, could not afford a healthy diet. At the same time, conflict, climate extremes and economic uncertainty continue to put pressure on food systems worldwide.

Knowledge, technology and proven solutions already exist. The challenge is creating the conditions for them to work in practice and at scale. This episode explores what it takes to move from ambition to implementation across markets, value chains and local contexts.

Featuring perspectives

  • David Laborde, Director, Agrifood Economics and Policy Division, FAO
  • Luis Cubel, CEO, Arla Foods Ingredients
  • Christian Rosenkrantz de Lasson, CEO, FOSS
  • Lise Walbom, CEO, Food Nation Denmark (Moderator)

What to expect

David Laborde explores some of barriers to strengthening food security and moving from ambition to implementation. The conversation looks at the role of investment, coherent policies, local adaptation and collaboration across the food value chain, as well as he importance of involving farmers and the private sector when solutions are brought to scale.

From the Danish food cluster, Luis Cubel from Arla Food Ingredients and Christian Rosenkrantz de Lasson from FOSS bring concrete examples of how existing resources, nutrition, data and analytical technologies can contribute to stronger food systems.

Luis shares how whey from cheese production can be transformed into high value nutrition and what is needed to make such solutions relevant across different markets.

Christian explores how analytical technologies and reliable data can strengthen food quality, productivity and resource use across food value chains.

Together, the three perspectives show that bringing proven solutions to scale depends on more than innovation alone. Viable economics, supportive policies, local adaptation, reliable data and partnerships all play a role in turning solutions into lasting change
