Royal State Visit advances Denmark–Australia collaboration on efficient and climate-resilient food systems

When Their Majesties King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark lead the official Danish State Visit to Australia from 16–19 March 2026, collaboration on sustainable agriculture and climate-resilient food systems will be among the important topics of discussion.

Taking place in Melbourne, Victoria, the visit forms part of the strengthened strategic partnership between Denmark and Australia under the theme “Denmark–Australia: Partnering for a Green, Secure and Sustainable Tomorrow.” Alongside ministers and industry leaders, a delegation of Danish companies will showcase innovative solutions spanning agri-tech, food ingredients and biosolutions.

A strong match for agri-food collaboration

Denmark and Australia share strong ambitions for sustainable development in agriculture and food production. Both countries face the challenge of producing more food with fewer resources while reducing emissions and strengthening resilience to climate change.

Denmark’s agri-food sector is internationally recognised for its integrated and collaborative approach to innovation. Close cooperation between industry, research institutions and public authorities has enabled the development of scalable solutions that combine advanced technology, biosolutions and data-driven production systems with efficient resource use.

Australia brings complementary strengths as a global agricultural leader, offering large-scale production systems where innovative solutions can be tested and implemented at scale. Together, Denmark’s innovation capabilities and Australia’s scale create a strong foundation for impactful collaboration.

Danish companies bring solutions down under

As part of the official business delegation, Danish agri-food companies will present solutions that support sustainable, resource efficient and climate-resilient food systems.

Participating companies include Arla Foods IngredientsCimbria, FOSS and Novonesis, representing key strengths within the Danish agri-food ecosystem. Their expertise spans dairy nutrition, grain and food processing, analytical technologies and biosolutions that improve efficiency across agriculture and food production.

Together, these companies illustrate Denmark’s strong positions within technology, ingredients and biological innovation across the food value chain.

A platform for dialogue and partnerships

The programme in Melbourne will bring together Danish and Australian stakeholders through an official Business Day with participation from Their Majesties the King and Queen, as well as ministerial meetings, sector seminars and targeted networking activities.

These events provide a platform for knowledge exchange and partnership development between Denmark and Australia – exploring how innovation can be translated into tangible impact through collaboration, partnerships, and shared ambition across the agri-food value chain.

By strengthening collaboration across hemispheres, the Danish State Visit to Australia underscores the shared ambition of both countries to strengthen bilateral green cooperation.
