Denmark is a strong partner in meeting the growing global demand for organic food

A new agreement between the EU and Japan reflects a broader shift towards aligned standards – making it easier to bring trusted organic products to international markets.

Denmark has a long tradition of organic food production rooted in strong standards for sustainability, traceability and taste. Danish producers offer a wide range of organic solutions – from dairy and meat to grain and vegetables – that meet the expectations of modern food professionals across gastronomy, retail and foodservice.

Shared standards open new markets

The new agreement between the EU and Japan removes the need for additional certification when trading organic products between the two regions. This makes trade more efficient and transparent – and highlights a shared commitment to organic standards.

While the agreement is bilateral, it reflects a growing global trend – more countries are moving towards harmonised rules, which supports smoother cross-border B2B trade in organic food.

As this international alignment continues, Danish companies are strong partners to deliver high-quality, certified organic products that match rising global expectations.
