Denmark highlighted for turning agrifood ambitions into implementation

A new FAO analysis highlights Denmark’s role in translating agrifood system ambitions into practical implementation.

The analysis is part of the FAO Global Roadmap, which provides a framework for how agrifood systems can contribute to food security and nutrition while supporting climate mitigation, adaptation and resilience.

Denmark is presented as more than a case study. The report points to the country’s combination of strong ambition and concrete policy action across climate, land use, diets and agriculture.

A central example is the Agreement on a Green Denmark, which reflects a consensus-based approach to addressing complex trade-offs across food production, climate, nature and rural livelihoods.

Rather than presenting Denmark as a model to be copied one-to-one, the analysis underlines how national experiences can provide practical inspiration for other countries working to translate global frameworks into national action.

The report adds to the international dialogue on how more sustainable, productive and resilient agrifood systems can be developed in practice.
