Let’s talk! Facing up to the global food challenge – Everybody has the right to safe, high quality food
Sign up to eventJoin Food Nations Global Food Talk on June 7, 1.00-2.00 pm CEST on World Food Safety Day with Denmarks Minister of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, Rasmus Prehn and leading high-level profiles from the Danish and international agriculture and food scene.
Food safety saves lives. It is not only crucial to food security but also plays a vital role in reducing foodborne diseases. Numbers from World Health Organization estimate that 600 million people fall sick of food-borne illnesses every year which also causes 420.000 preventable deaths every year.
Food safety and quality have a huge impact on many of the global challenges we need to solve whether it is food-related illnesses, security of food supply or sustainable production. Our global food systems need to produce enough safe food for all. Recognising the systemic connections between the health of people, animals, plants, the environment and the economy will help us meet the needs of the future and are essential to reach the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The key question to which we are seeking answer is: How do we ensure healthy and safe food for the entire world’s population with limited resources?
