H.M. Queen Mary and Minister Jacob Jensen to take part in COP30 in Brazil

Her Majesty Queen Mary of Denmark and the Danish Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, Jacob Jensen, will take part in the Danish programme at the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP30, in Belém, Brazil. Their participation highlights Denmark’s strong commitment to promoting sustainable food production, land use and climate-resilient agriculture as central parts of the global climate agenda.

As the world prepares for COP30, nature-based solutions, sustainable agriculture and biodiversity restoration are key focus areas of this year’s conference. Hosted in the Amazon rainforest for the first time, COP30 marks a pivotal moment for advancing global actin on equitable transitions and the transformation towards more climate-resilient land use.

With Her Majesty H.M Queen Mary and Minister Jacob Jensen joining the Danish delegation, Denmark brings high-level representation to underscore the country’s diplomatic and strategic commitment to sustainable food systems and climate-resilient agriculture through partnerships, innovation and shared responsibility.

Global spotlight on land, forest and agriculture use
COP30 arrives at a decisive moment for climate implementation. As tropical forests, land use and food systems gain prominence, Brazil is positioning itself as a leading voice for the Global South, anchoring the agenda in equity, food security and nature-based solutions. The Amazon, hosting a COP for the first time, offers both symbolic weight and practical urgency in the global effort to restore ecosystems and advance climate action.

The official agenda reflects this shift. In addition to progress on national climate commitments (NDCs), COP30 will address integrated approaches that link climate, nature and development. From forest finance and fire prevention to hunger, poverty and sustainable agriculture, the programme signals growing recognition that solutions must be rooted in both environmental and social resilience.

Denmark’s contribution to sustainable land use and food systems
Throughout COP30, the Danish Pavilion in the Blue Zone will serve as a hub for international collaboration, bringing together Danish stakeholders and global partners. Food Nation and Danish companies will present innovative technologies and cross-sector solutions that reduce emissions, strengthen resilience, and contribute to global goals for biodiversity, equity and sustainable growth.

Minister, Jacob Jensen, will take part in a high-level session co-hosted by Brazil’s EMBRAPA, the Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil, and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event will focus on how partnerships and investment can advance sustainable land and forest use through science, finance and policy.

At the Nordic Pavilion, partners will host a high-level session on Healthy Diets within Planetary Boundaries, showcasing Nordic approaches that link health, climate and productivity through public-private collaboration.

Denmark’s participation underlines the country’s commitment to aligning climate, nature and development. With strong cooperation between government, farmers and industry, as reflected in the Green Tripartite Agreement, Denmark aims to demonstrate how productivity and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
