Green agriculture seminar

The Green Agriculture Seminar in Tokyo on 20 May 2026 brings together Danish and Japanese authorities, industry representatives and stakeholders to explore pathways for the green transformation of agri-food systems.

The seminar provides a platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange at a time when global food systems must address climate change, biodiversity loss and food security. By connecting policy frameworks with practical solutions, the event highlights how collaboration and innovation can accelerate the transition towards more sustainable agriculture.

Organised by the Royal Danish Embassy in Tokyo in cooperation with Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the seminar builds on the strong bilateral partnership between Denmark and Japan. It will present key policy initiatives, including Denmark’s “Agreement on a Green Denmark” and Japan’s Growth Strategy and MIDORI Strategy, while facilitating discussions on future opportunities for cooperation.

Denmark brings forward a comprehensive and ambitious approach to the green transition of agriculture, combining climate action with competitiveness. This includes pioneering measures such as a carbon tax on agriculture, investments in land use and biodiversity, and a strong focus on innovation and technology.
At the same time, Japan is advancing sustainable food systems through national strategies aimed at reducing emissions, improving resource efficiency and strengthening food security.

A key highlight of the seminar is the integration of green gastronomy, where Danish chef Adam Aamann will present how sustainable principles can be translated into culinary innovation, showcasing the link between policy, production and consumption.

Through this seminar, Denmark aims to strengthen dialogue with Japanese partners, promote knowledge sharing and support the development of sustainable, resilient and future-ready agri-food systems.
